Open Street Maps Settings

Find the settings under Easy Property Listings > Extensions > Open Street Maps. There are two tabs: Settings for how maps look, and Address Lookup for finding listing coordinates.

Settings tab

Map Style

Choose how your maps look.

  • OpenStreetMap Standard (default): the classic OpenStreetMap look. Free, no account needed. Suitable for most agency sites.
  • Stadia Maps styles: Alidade Smooth (light), Alidade Smooth Dark, OSM Bright, Outdoors and Stamen Toner Lite. These need a free Stadia Maps account. Add your website domain in your Stadia account, or enter your Stadia Maps API Key. Without either, the map will be blank on your live site.
  • Custom: use any other map tile provider. Enter its Custom Tile URL and the Custom Attribution the provider requires.

The extra fields only appear for the styles that use them:

Custom map style fields

A custom tile URL must include {z}, {x} and {y}. You can also use {s} for subdomains and {r} for high resolution tiles. Put the provider's key in the URL if it needs one:

https://tiles.example.com/{z}/{x}/{y}.png?key=YOUR_KEY

Fair use: OpenStreetMap's own tile servers are free for light use. Very busy sites should use a paid provider (Stadia Maps or Custom) so maps stay fast and within the provider's terms.

Height

Height of the map on single listings, in pixels. Default 350.

Zoom

How close the map is on single listings, from 1 (whole world) to 19 (individual buildings). Default 14. Try 15 or 16 for a street level view.

Suburb Zoom and Suburb Area Radius

When a listing has Display Street Address turned off, the map shows a shaded circle over the suburb instead of a pin on the property. Suburb Zoom (default 13) sets how far out that map is, and Suburb Area Radius (default 1500 metres) sets the size of the circle.

Scroll Wheel Zoom

Off by default, so visitors scrolling down the page don't accidentally zoom the map. They can still use the + and − buttons or pinch on a phone.

Archive and Search Map

Shows a map of the results above the listings on your listing archives (for example /property/ and /rental/), suburb pages and search results.

  • Off (default).
  • Listings on the current page: the map matches the page of results the visitor is looking at. Fastest.
  • All matching listings (up to 500): one map with every result, clustered.

Set the map height with Archive and Search Map Height (default 400).

Directions Link

Adds a Get directions link under the map on single listings, opening OpenStreetMap or Google Maps directions to the property. It isn't shown when Display Street Address is off.

Marker Icon

Upload an image to replace the default blue pin on all maps. It's shown at its actual size, so an image around 40 pixels tall works best. The bottom centre of the image points to the listing, so a pin shape works well.

Contact Email

Sent with address lookups to the free OpenStreetMap lookup service (Nominatim). It lets them contact you instead of blocking your site if something goes wrong. Strongly recommended.

Lookup Service URL

Leave blank to use the free OpenStreetMap service. To use another service with the same format, such as LocationIQ or your own Nominatim server, enter its search URL including any key:

https://us1.locationiq.com/v1/search?key=YOUR_KEY

Look Up Listings

Finds coordinates for all listings that don't have them. See Looking up coordinates for all listings.
